博士 === 國立臺北大學 === 企業管理學系 === 92 === In this article, we base on ecology theory to investigate the issue of number of individuals (population density) and Industrial ecology factors. The samples include six industries. Eight factories and yearly data are collected from 1967 to 2001 of Electronic and others industry of the EPZ of Taiwan. Analyze the significant determinants of the number of individuals by using point-biserial correlation and quadratic regression model. In addition, expert opinion method is applied to explore the industry''s evolution. This investigation has four major findings: (1) changes in the number of manufacturers in all industry of the EPZ of Taiwan, and life cycle of the industry have inevitably come to determine an outward migration or withdrawal of the industry is necessary; (2) Industry''s ecology factors can expound number of individuals of industry. (3) There is an ∩ shape between industry''s ecology factors and number of individuals of industry is significant. (4) Put forward the Law of tolerance model. Implications of these findings for management practice and future research are discussed.
