碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 犯罪學研究所 === 92 === Four purposes of this research are: first, to review and analyze the female homicide in family. Second, by analyzing official data to try to interpret the relative factors of female homicide in family and the female convicts’ characteristics. Third, by interviewing incarcerated female offenders this study tried to comprehend the inner deep motive and psychological factors of the women convicts. Last, to construct a theory of woman homicide in family and provide an advice to prevent the crime from occurring. Secondary data were obtained from sample of 191 female homicide cases in Taiwan from 1993 to 2002. Besides that, the researcher interviewed 15 female inmates convicted for homicide from 3 prisons in Taiwan, including 10 inmates killed their husbands, 3 inmates killed their children, and 2 inmates killed their relatives in their families. The findings include: (1) The victims of female homicide in family are those who are intimate to them. (2) The age of female inmates is range from 20 to 40 years old, and most of them are low SES. (3) Twenty percent of female inmates have something to do with alcohol before they committed an act of violence. (4) Female homicide cases often occurred indoor, during the night and with knife. This study also shows that: there are a high proportion of the female offenders to attempt to commit suicide after they committed a murder. Female criminals who killed their spouses are of self-defend personality. And there are differences among different types of female homicides in family. In sum, the research concludes that there are complicated causes for female homicide in Taiwan. However, much serious harm is resulted from serious arguments under some situational influences. For prevention and control of such violent acts, there are some suggestions: (1) The government should establish marital guidance. (2) To help women who are under the shadow of domestic violence. (3) To take female inmates correction seriously. (4) To cure and assess the schizophrenia. (5) To move off marital violence. (6) Encourage women to participate in community activities.
