Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to investigate Kinmen County elementary school students’ learning satisfaction with Health and Physical Education Learning Area. With gender and the scale of school as variables, the differences they presented on learning satisfaction were discussed.
Inquiry survey was conducted in this study. The research subjects were the fifth- graders in Kinmen County. Questionnaires were issued and done by 529 students among twenty elementary schools (junior high-elementary schools and branches included) in Kinmen, four hundred and eighty seven of which were valid samples; the response rate reached 92%. “The Learning Satisfaction Scale” was utilized as the research tool.
To examine the researcher’s assumption, the data was dealt with SPSS Chinese windows 10.0 version software package. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, independent sample t- test, one-way ANOVE, and Scheffe Post Hoc test.
Based on the data collected, the conclusions of the study are listed as follows:
1. On average, elementary school students in Kinmen get 3.92 points for each question on the learning satisfaction scale of Health and Physical Education (which approaches to the satisfactory level), which indicates that learning satisfaction with Health and Physical Education of Kinmen County elementary school students belongs to middle-high level.
2. Among the aspects of learning satisfaction with Health and Physical Education, elementary school students in Kinmen County are the most satisfied with learning effect by 4.13, which are followed in order by classroom atmosphere 3.96, learning environment 3.91, teachers’ instruction 3.90, and the least satisfied with teaching administration 3.58. With regards to five aspects of learning satisfaction with Health and Physical Education, Kinmen County elementary school students get average scores between 4.13 and 3.58 points for each question, which belongs to middle- high level.
3. With regards to gender differences, the result (t = 0.28, p > 0.05) indicates that there is no significant difference between male and female students’ learning satisfaction with Health and Physical Education in Kinmen County. In terms of other aspects, female students are more satisfied with learning environment than male students; male students are more satisfied with teaching administration than female students. There is no significant difference in teachers’ instruction, learning effect and classroom atmosphere between both sexes.
4. With regards to scale differences, students from those schools of 7 –24 classes are more satisfied with Health and Physical Education learning than students from those of over 25 classes. In terms of the other aspects, students from those schools of 7-24 classes are more satisfied with teachers’ instruction and learning environment than students from those of over 25 classes. There is no significant difference in learning effect, teaching administration, and classroom atmosphere among students from different scales of school.
