| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 92 === The expansion of the World Wide Web enhances the information exchange and creates an enormous resource to everyone nowadays. The popularity of the Internet increases the security risks dramatically by Internet misuse, virus risk, massive hacker attack and all kind of threats. Thus, solving Internet problems becomes one of the most priorities in the network management.
This research focuses on the subnet security management, in which a subnet is divided into different areas based on the network usage and security policy. The proposed security system is composed of distributed subnet management devices and a centralized management server. Subnet management devices located on each area are responsible to manage the security task on its own area. A centralized management server is used to control and manage the embedded subnet management devices distributed throughout the network. This system not only can be integrated with firewall to provide substantial network protection, but also can be extended for various applications by incorporating the function of bandwidth management and intrusion detection. As its low unit cost and easy maintenance, the proposed distributed security system provides an extensible solution.
