First, this study analyzed puppet show of pre-children’s television programs at present situation, manipulation of puppet, dialogue, content, decoration of stage that broadcasted from April to November 2003.Second, this study compared style, content, viewers, manipulation of puppets, decoration, producing process and assessment of “Sesame Street” and “Fruit-Ice cream”. Thirdly, this study divided 29 pre-school children into groups from a kindergarten in Tainan City and analyzed their perception of puppet show. The primary findings of this study were as follows: Ⅰ.Puppets always played the major roles in foreign pre-school children’s television programs. Ⅱ. “Sesame Street” owned professionals of different fields to produce the show. They published magazines which including the evaluations of result, provided suggestions for new show. Ⅲ.Professional puppeteers and famous actors participated in “Sesame Street”. And it owned a film studio to shoot. Ⅳ.Songs, background music and sound effects were used extensively in “Sesame Street”. Ⅴ. The same conception of puppet show brought pre-school children different perception on shapes, color, dialogue and appearances. Ⅵ.Pre-school children liked puppets performance rather than human performance, and they expected the more opportunities of puppets to perform in the show.
