Summary: | 碩士 === 國立清華大學 === 生物科技研究所 === 92 === Adlay (Coix lacryma- jobi L.) is traditionally consumed as a cereal for both meal and medicine in China. Adlay has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine for the dysfunction of female’s endocrine system . Adlay seed extracts was reported to have activity of ovulation in golden hamasters in Japan. The purpose of this study was to investigate the certainly effect of adlay seed on activity of ovulation in organism. We try to use Drosophila melanogaster as a model system to study the effect of adlay seed extracts on activity of ovulation. The results showed that hexane extract of adlay seed (HE) had the best effect. The percentage increase in fly number over control about 84%. Methanol extract of adlay seed (ME) had no obvious effect than hexane extract of adlay seed (HE). Treated HE about 100~200 (愮/vial) dosage had the best effect. The best effect of feeding time was 5 days . Micrographs from the ovary of virgin females represent the hexane extract of adlay seed (HE) can improve eggs developed and matured efficiently. We try to compare the first filial generation from flies by feeding HE with control. The results showed no matter fertility or thermal stress resistance were have no difference between control.
