Summary: | 碩士 === 國立清華大學 === 工業工程與工程管理學系 === 92 === Supplier involvement in a new product development process is a trend that can decrease the development time in the industry in which the product life cycle is getting shorter. The advantages of supplier involvement in NPD have been discussed in many literatures, but supplier types and contributing models have not been well established.
So this research differentiates the types of new products in the market, and categorized the components of a product into three groups(the ABC categories). The product types and components’ importance categories are integrated with NPD phases, to get 9 models of supplier involvement. As a result, the supplier selection criteria are derived from these 9 models. To improve the performance of supplier management, there is a distinct group of supplier performance index for each involvement model.
By making clear the same and the difference of performance index among the supplier involvement models, crystal criteria is derived for selecting supplier for collaborative NPD. In addition, the business information of supplier can be saved, and the critical index of each model can be identified for subsequent supplier selection. The redundant criteria setting work can also be reduced for the similar type NPD.
By means of the NPD supplier involvement models, the interaction of NPD performance and supplier involvement performance are well identified. Continuous improvement of the supplier performance to cut the NPD time is the key to enhance the competency in NPD cycle time.
