碩士 === 臺中師範學院 === 環境教育研究所 === 92 === Abstract In Chang-Hua, pesticides are used frequently, and they would harm to children’s health. So, it’s important to have a correct habit of pesticides-poisoning prevention. This research aimed to understand the elementary school students’ pesticides knowledge, their attitudes toward pesticides and the related factors, including those children’s backgrounds, experiences from pesticides and the resources of information. A total of 612 valid questionnaires were collected. The result shows that the sources of related information about pesticides were mainly from TV news, newspapers and magazines. Generally, the students’ pesticides knowledge was not good enough, however their attitudes toward pesticides were positive. There was a specific positive correlation between pesticides knowledge and their attitudes toward pesticides. Some variables such as " gender ", " pesticides knowledge ", " pesticides information from TV ", and " pesticides information from newspapers or magazines " influence students’ attitudes toward pesticides the most. Finally, the researcher suggests that elementary school teachers can use pesticides as a topic in their instruction. They can focus on issues such as the functions of pesticides, harm to the environment, harm to health, and pesticides-poisoning prevention. Teachers can select suitable teaching methods to teach students, so that students can have a thorough understanding of pesticides and a positive attitudes toward pesticides.
