Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立台北護理學院 === 護理助產研究所 === 92 === The purpose of this study is to develop and test the birth-wear that meets the needs of both childbearing women and childbirth caregivers during intrapartum. This quasi-experimental study was conducted using convenient samplings to select childbearing women and caregivers as the targeted subjects. The subjects of childbearing women were assigned into two groups. One hundred and forty—four subjects in the controlled group wore hospital gowns. The other seventy-seven subjects in the experimental group wore the newly designed multi-functional birth-wear. The subjects of sixty-three childbirth caregivers received pre-test to care the childbearing women who wore hospital gowns, and received post-test to care the childbearing women who wore the newly designed multi-functional birth-wear. The survey instrument is a closed-end questionnaire using the multi-functional birth-wear as a research media. This multi-functional birth-wear is to provide privacy, functionality, comfort and style. The key findings of this study were as follows: For childbearing women, the overall satisfaction with hospital gowns vs. newly designed birth-wear is 68.6%, which includes 75.5% for privacy, 60.1% for functionality, 60.7% for comfort and 66.8% for style. For the childbirth caregivers, the overall satisfaction with hospital gowns is 71.8%, which includes 74.5% for privacy, 66.08% for functionality and 63.6% for style. The childbearing women, the overall satisfaction of childbirth women to the multi-functional birth-wear is 88.6%, privacy is 90.4%, functionality is 93.2%, comfort is 87.3% and style is 82.1%. The overall satisfaction of childbirth caregivers to the multi-functional birth-wear is 88.0%, privacy is 82.5%, functionality is 84.0% and style is 77.6%. The result is helpful to understand childbirth women’s clothing need during labor, delivery and recovery. The satisfied findings shows if the multi-functional birth-wear were to be used clinically, it will promote the quality of childbirth care.
