Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 技術及職業教育研究所 === 92 === This study aimed at exploring the relation of career development, factors of career development and in-service education demands of the high school teachers. The main objects were: (1) to understand the current circumstances of career development; (2) to understand what are the factors of career development; (3) to understand the demands for in-service education of the high school teachers; (4) to explore the relation of career development and demands for in-service education; (5) to analyze the influence situation between career development , the factors of career development, and demands for in-service education; and (6) to provide the suggestions about career counseling and training program for the related authorities according to the outcomes.
This study was proceeded by literature review and questionnaire research, in which “High school Teachers’ career development and demands for in-service education Questionnaire” developed by the researcher was used. The sampling were selected of 1543 high school teachers in Kaohsiung, and the rate of respondence was 44.91%. All the data was analyzed by mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-wayANOVA, Pearson correlation, path analysis, and stepwise regression. The conclusion and suggestions were as following:
1.The career development stage of high school teachers of Kaohsiung city has highest score on exploring mature and professional mature stages.
2.The main factors of career development are personal factors and valued structure factor; in addition, the subjects were eager for the professional knowledge.
3.Gender, educational background, teaching experience, classification of subjects and schools, public or private schools caused the difference of career development, factors of career development and demands for in-service education.
4.High school teachers who are at exploring mature and professional mature stages have high demands for professional knowledge, general knowledge, social engagement, and family and life. However, those on stagnation would decrease the demands for professional knowledge.
5.The demands for in-service education of these high school teachers were influenced by career developmental factors and stages; furthermore, career developmental stage would be influenced by the factors of career development.
6.Personal factors and school environmental factors were the best predictors to career development.
7.The school environmental factor would be the best predictor to the demands for in-service education.
8.Exploring mature stage was the best predictor to the demands for in-service education on teachers’ career developmental stage.
9.The authorities should strengthen and construct entire career counseling mechanism so as to improve teachers’ professional development and to put into practice. Otherwise, the authorities are supposed to enhance the professional quality on instruction for high school teachers and administer evaluation and classification of teachers for stimulating experienced teachers to devote themselves to education.
10.The related authorities should actively to organize relevant and multiple training courses and activities for coping with high school teachers’ demands for career development. The training courses and activities include not only promotion of teacher profession and general skill but also social engagement, family and life.
11.School administers should attempt to decrease negative factors of career development to ease the setback and weakness of career development and to improve the will and motivation for in-service education and training.
