Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 環境工程與科學系 === 92 === In this study, the air samplings (from February 2003 to April 2004) around pig/cattle farms, factories, and a traffic source in Pingtung area were performed to characterize the fugitive ammonia emission in ambient air. The field weather conditions measured were linked with the data provided by local air quality monitoring stations (Environmental Protection Bureau, Pingtung County) for correlation analysis. In addition, more air samples were collected in eight days during the same sampling period from thirty sites including a scientific industrial park (having five semi-conductor factories, four photoelectric factories, and two biotech factories), a textile/dyeing factory (two sites), a tannery factory (two sites), poultry/pig/cattle farms (six upwind/downwind sites), factory water discharge sites (five), and a landfill area (four sites).
The average NH3 concentrations found in four wastewater treatment plants were 676, 336, 209, and 312 ppb for Plants A, B, C, and D, respectively while the average NH3 concentrations in the ambient air around the four plants were 35, 412, 74, and 66 ppb, respectively. The average NH3 concentrations in air surrounding the industrial park area were: 41 and 205 ppb at Landfill Sites A and B, respectively, 53 ppb at factory water discharge sites, 47 ppb at semi-conductor factory sites, 38 ppb at photoelectric factory sites, 40 ppb at biotech factory sites, 26 ppb at pharmaceutical sites, 117 ppb at textile/dyeing factory sites, 78 ppb at tannery sites, 54 ppb at the pig farm, 801 ppb at the poultry farm, and 348 ppb at the cattle farm. The average NH3 concentrations near a waste type pyrolysis incinerator were 119 and 70 ppb at 5 and 15 m away from incinerator stack, respectively, whereas the average NH3 concentration at the traffic source was 18 ppb.
Accordingly, among the sites investigated, the poultry/cattle/pig farms were the most important source for NH3 emission. The landfill/water discharge and conventional industry sites had the second and the third highest NH3 emission factors. The NH3 emissions at the high-tech and biotech factory sites were the lowest due to the air-closed system used by the factories.
