Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東師範學院 === 視覺藝術教育學系 === 92 === Abstract This research was conducted to find the applicability of using Chinese calligraphy learning activities as a means for counseling the impulsive children. Related literature were reviewed and analyzed for understanding the characters and behaviors of the impulsive children and methods for counseling, and the effects of counseling in terms of art therapy using calligraphy learning activities. A case study with four subjects was conducted for practical investigation. Four impulsive children were selected from three hundred fifth graders in the author''s school, by means of the Child Study Scales teat and classroom teachers'' ratings using the same scales. The Maze Test and the Self-concept Test were given prior to the counseling program. Then, the eighteen-week calligraphy learning activities were implemented as the stage of intervention, coupled by daily behavior observations by the classroom teachers and the parents, the periodical individual interviews by the author, as well as the weekly self-evaluations of the subjects. Then, the same tests were done for comparison. After the two months summer vacation, the teachers and parents continued a six-week observations without intervention. The results of this research were concluded as follows: 1. Counseling the impulsive children has being one of the important and hard tasks in elementary schools, because children''s impulsive characters cause deviant behaviors, in many ways with multi-facet factors. Individual counseling by reducing the opportunity of misbehaviors can be an effective strategy for impulsive children counseling. 2. A calligraphy learning program, based on the ideas and methods of therapy, behavior modification, value-clarification, as well as art education, can be an effective approach to the impulsive children counseling. It distracts their attentions from their deviant behaviors to the tasks with free, expressive activities, and hence, help decrease their impulsive behaviors and improve their characters. 3. The calligraphy learning program has some positive benefits for the four children in terms of impulsive emotion, attention, human relation, and self-concept. However, little effects can be found on their hedonic impulses, impulsive sensation seeking , and low -planning. Some recommendations are given for further studies, applying calligraphy learning in counseling and elated educational practice for impulsive children at school and at home.
