碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 性別教育研究所 === 92 === The study is based on th qualitative research method to discuss parenting experience for both parents and adolescents in the nuclear families. There are totally fourteen participants join the interviews, including fathers, mothers, sons and daughters in four families. By analyzing the texts, it explores the differences in cultivating sons and daughters for both fathers and mothers, and the differences between mothering and fathering. Moreover, it enables us to understand the gendered-power relationships in parenting by feminists’ perspective. On on hand, the purpose of the study is to manifest the mothers’ and fathes’ experience in raising their adolescent children in order to reflect the gender issues within. On the other hand, it possibly will be able to enhance the local discourses of parenting. The findings of the study are as follows: 1.The model of sexual division of labour is rooted in parenting adolescent children. 2.There is conflict between parents’ determination and adolescent’s autonomy. 3.The interaction between mothers and adolescent is closer than fathers and adolescent, so more conflicts happen between mothers and children. 4.There are some other factors which influence parenting dramatically, for instances: teachers, relatives, media and educational policies.
