Having outstanding logistics personnel is a critical success factor for superior logistics performance. Recognizing the importance of personnel quality, the study focuses on finding the priorities of the work ability of logistics personnel required by the industry, especially ability for logistics managers. The research started from literature review and development of the logistics-manager work ability model. The survey was then conducted with respect to logistics practioners and educators. Through statistical analysis, priorities of work ability were drawn. Finally, differences in viewpoint between logistics industry and the academia were investigated. Research findings were summarized as: 1.No significant differences exist between the logitics industry and academia concerning to the priorities of work ability. 2.Also, no significant differences exist between administrative and non-administrative personnel about the requirements of the work ability. 3.With respect to educational backgrounds, people with high-school degree put more emphasis on general commercial knowledge and ability with non-traditional attention than those with university degree. People with college degree put more emphasis on interpersonal skills than those with master degree. 4.With respec to working experiences, people who worked for more than 15 years put more emphasis on general commercial knowledge and ability with non-traditional attention than those with 6 to 10 years working experience. Based on the conclusion drawn by analysis results, we provided several suggestions to academia, industry, and government for course designing, research project, personnel training, and policy making.
