The purpose of this study is intended to investigate the life experience of the Han female teachers teaching in indigenous schools. I collected data by semi-structural interviews from six Han female teachers. They are the primary school teachers in Hualien and aged from 26 to 38. I interviewed every teacher twice spending from 1 to 2.5 hours each time. I translated their conversations in a draft and analyze these data in terms of the theme analysis method.
I divided the life experience of the six Hun female teachers into ten common themes. First, they all sympathized with the indigenous students’ situation and environment. Second, they fond the indigenous students’ families were not good condition. Third, the social welfare system could not make great help to the indigenous students’ life. Fourth, there were some problems between the six Han teachers and their colleagues. Fifth, they did not satisfy with their jobs because of their executive work was overloading. Sixth, the teachers got empowerment through multicultural practices. Seventh, the Han female teachers spoke Chinese with indigenous accent unconsciously. Eighth, they felt self-identification by showing the utmost solicitude. Ninth, they expressed the wish to leave the current schools in the future. Tenth, life will become better if they have dreams.
Finally, according to the results, this study provide some suggestions on the indigenous education and research.
