The objectives of this study were to investigate the different backgrounds that affected the work values and job involvement, and the relationship between work values and job involvement.
The investigation was carried out through collecting effective questionnaires from 465 teachers in public elementary schools in Yun-Chia area and using the 「questionnaires for investigating the working performance of teachers in public elementary schools」designed by the author. The content includes questions about work values and job involvement of teachers in public elementary schools. The statistical methods include t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. Following conclusions were drawn from this study:
1. The most emphasized work value of those elementary school teachers in Yun-Chia area was on「safety of an organization」.
2. The most emphasized job involvement of those elementary school teachers in Yun-Chia area was on「evaluation in working」.
3. The individual or overall work values were affected by gender, age and marital status while not affected by the years in working, educational background, position, size and location of a school.
4. The individual or overall job involvement was affected by age, years in working, position, and marital status while not affected by gender, educational background, size and location of a school.
5. The more one emphasizes on work values, the more one is involved in working.
According to those results, this study provides suggestions to the education authorities, schools, teachers colleges, teachers in public elementary schools, and future researches.
