Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 休閒事業管理研究所碩士班 === 92 === The research examines career barriers (glass ceiling) and coping strategies of female managers in Taiwan’s Tourist Hotels. Managers with various demographical attribute, personality and job attributes were sampled from 84 Tourist Hotels as registered at Tourism Bureau in March. The snowball sampling method was adopted to collect data. 382 questionnaires were sent out from March 28 to May 20, 2004, and 130 effective ones were received. The research finds that career barriers and the coping strategies adopted tend to be different according to the managers’ various background. “Locus of control” and “age of female managers’ youngest children” are the main factors causing variance in career barriers and coping strategies respectively. Finally, based on research results, suggestions to hotel owners/operators and female managers are proposed.
