A self-constructed “Family Concept Quality Scale” was used as the research instrument for data collection. Subjects were 911 adolescents in Chiayi area. Descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and t-test were used to analyze the data collected. The findings of this study are as follows: 1. Adolescents tend to have positive concept of family. 2. Junior high school students gain higher family concept scores than senior high school students on family closeness. 3. Male students have higher scores than female students on “family separateness” and “external locus of control ”. The higher graders have more negative family concept than lower graders. 4. Students who belief in Christian have higher scores than belief in Taoism on “consideration and open communication” of family concept. 5. Students with high socioeconomic status tend to have more positive family concept. 6. Adolescents’ attitude toward family is based on their feeling of the family. 7. When subjects have positive feeling about family, their family concept are also positive.
