Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 資訊工程研究所 === 92 === The surprisingly success of WLANs has yield a demand to integrate WLANs with cellular networks. The effort to develop such a heterogeneous environment is linked with many technical challenges including seamless handovers across WLAN and radio technologies. In this thesis, a protocol supporting seamless handoff in heterogeneous wireless networks is proposed. The Pre-handoff Scheme can improve the service interruption time. Also, the Bi-CoA Scheme aims to remedy the heavy overheads caused by frequent handoffs when the MN moves around in the overlapped area. Besides, to reduce the packet loss rate during the handoff, three buffering schemes are presented and compared. The simulation results show that the service interruption time and the packet loss rate during the handoff can be significantly reduced in the proposed protocol. The goal of seamless handoff in heterogeneous wireless networks can be successfully achieved.
