Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to study the influence of embedding computer graph software into the mathematics instruction for 3rd grade senior high school students. This research made use of quasi-experimental method. Two intact classes from a senior high school in Nantou County were selected as an experimental group and a control group . The experimental group adopted mathematical instruction combining Advanced Grapher , and the control group adopt the traditional lecture . The domain concept is the figures of function in high school mathematics curriculum.
The achievement of two groups were compared, and the changes of experimental group students’ learning attitudes and learning feeling were studied after experimentation.
The major findings of the research were as follows:
1. Students in the experimental group took good learning attitude toward using Advanced Grapher in high school mathematical teaching.
2. The achievement between the experimental group and the control group didn’t make lots of difference.
3. In the experimental group, the high achievement students didn’t improve much after instruction . But the low achievement students had great improvement.
4. Students in the experimental group think that the interface of Advanced Grapher is very friendly and easy to operate, but the table for input is too small to input the formulas.
5. Students in the experimental group considered that graph interface in Advanced Grapher can present the figures of function clearly, which help students observe and analysis the figure of function well. But they also complained that function keys can be misuse easily that make hard to observe the figures.
