This Study adopted the questionnaire survey method. 609 male and female students from six public school junior high school in Tainan City were sampled in this study. The measurement applied in this study included Life Stress Inventory for Junior High School Students, Adolescence Self-esteem Inventory and Adolescence Behavior Inventory. Statistical methods employed in this study were t test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The main findings were as follows: 1. The main source of the objective and projective life stress of the students was the school life events, and the next two were the family life events and physical and mental development events. The delinquent behavior happened most to students was to say four-letter words. 2. The degrees of “objective stress in physical and mental development”, “projective stress in physical and mental development” and “projective stress in school life” of female students were higher than male. The higher grade the students were in, the more objective and projective life stress in each area they had. The objective and projective stress in family life and school life of students with higher socioeconomic status were more than students with lower socioeconomic status. 3. “Family self-esteem” and”social self-esteem” of female students were higher than male, and “physical self-esteem” of male students was higher than female. The factor “gender” had no obvious influence on the contents of self-esteem. Students’ different contents of self-esteem and their self-esteem from different life areas were clearly distinct due to different grades and socioeconomic status. 4. The delinquent behaviors of students were clearly distinct due to gender, grade and socioeconomic status. 5. The objective and projective life stress of the students in each life area were positively correlated with their delinquent behaviors. 6. Each content of self-esteem and self-esteem from different life areas were negatively correlated with the objective and projective life stress. 7. Different contents of self-esteem (like competence, control, worthiness) and the self-esteem from different life areas (like family self-esteem, social self-esteem, academic self-esteem) were negatively correlated with delinquent behaviors. 8. “Objective stress in interpersonal relationship”, “control”, “projective stress in physical and mental development”, “objective stress in family life” and “objective stress in school life” could forecast delinquent behaviors of 21.3%. “Family self-esteem”, “objective stress in interpersonal relationship”, “academic self-esteem”, “projective stress in physical and mental development”, “social self-esteem” and “objective stress in family life” could forecast delinquent behaviors of 26.4%. 9. The degrees of “control”,” worthiness”, “family self-esteem” and “academic self-esteem” in resilient students were higher than vulnerable students. Implications of these results were discussed and suggestions for realistic purposes and future research were also given. Shin-Drew Lin 林杏足 2004 學位論文 ; thesis 157 zh-TW |

This study, based on Resilience Theory, investigated the relationship between life stress (risk factors), self-esteem (protective factors) and delinquent behaviors (adjustment) of junior high school students. The main findings were as follows:
