A case study of Acer was used to demonstrate the practicability of this theory. Research methods are devided into four parts: the core competence matrix, the exteralities matrix, the competitive competence matrix, and the difference matrix. The core competence matrix contains research on the core competency in the servce network. The externalities matrix contains the analysis of key successs factors and completmetary assets. The difference matrix represents the strategic direction for Acer’s pursuit of core competence Results show that the information product segment of Acer Group has expanded its services into the restricted position and process innovation in 2004. Acer Group controls its capabilities of core comptetence and externalities in 2004 more effectively than those in 2001.
