Abstract
In recent years, with the development of technology and economy, Taiwan has built great high tech industry and reached pretty good performance in the worldwide. Not only dedicated on R&D for new product and technology, how to manage and how to motivate the knowledge based engineers become more and more important while enhancing their competence, especially in those companies offering relative high payment and always can select talent people in the market, they should do more efforts on retaining people by improving their job satisfaction and turn over rate.
The case studied here was based upon Vroom’s Expectation Theory and Adams’ Equity Theory, and surveyed the population of an IC manufacturing company’s engineers. Using statistical analysis to prove the relationship between IC fab reward system and indirect labor job satisfaction. The purposes of this study are:
1. To explore the reward system of the case company.
2. To study the relationship between current reward system and job satisfaction by different population attributes.
3. Base upon the finding and result of the study, to propose suggestions for improving the case company’s job satisfaction and then to improve turn over rate and productivity.
According to the conclusions of the study, most of the findings in the case company match with related theories or experience studies. Finally, this study also proposed 5 improvement action items for the case company as the reference of management.
