The possible differences in these evaluations from the various teacher’s backgrounds are also investigated. The study is basically a survey research and the unit of analysis are teachers of health and physical education for the first to fifth grade students in 150 elementary schools of Nantou County. The Evaluation Questionnaire of Health and Physical Education Textbook of General Guidelines of Grade 1-9 Curriculum of Elementary and Junior High School Education of Nantou County which is designed by the Ministry of Education is used in the study. Various statistical methods including frequency distribution, percentage, average and independent sample t-test, independent sample one-way ANOVA, and Scheffee test are employed to analyze the collected data. The major conclusions are as follows. 1. In the allocation of teachers from different backgrounds, the physical training hygiene and education department of different academic backgrounds takes 14.3%, and non-physical training hygiene and education department takes 85.7%, witch has the largest difference. 2. The teachers in general showed satisfactory evaluations among all of the six dimensions which are layout characteristics, course objectives, learning contents, content organization, teaching practices and assisting measures. 3. Teachers of different genders have significant differences in choosing the characters of the entire printed page and practicing teaching of the evaluation indexes of the textbooks. 4. Teachers of different functions have significant different evaluations regarding the “overall”, “course objectives”, “learning content”, “content organization”, and “teaching practices”. 5. Teachers of different educational background have significant different evaluation regarding the layouts, and teachers of physical training hygiene and education department have higher satisfaction than those of non-physical training hygiene and education department. 6. Different seniority years have significant different evaluation in the field of assisting measures. The satisfactory degree of “21 years (included) above” is higher than it of “6-10 years”. 7. Teachers of the various grades have showed no significant different satisfaction in health and physical training textbooks.
