A Study on the Change in the Playgrounds of the Elementary Schools in the Plan for Nantou County’s Campus Reconstruction after “921” Calamity

碩士 === 國立體育學院 === 體育研究所 === 92 === This study examines the change of playgrounds in 93 elementary schools in the Plan for Nantou County’s Campus Reconstruction after “921” Calamity and the use of the new playgrounds through the satisfaction of physical education teachers with the new constructions. In this study investigation was made with questionnaire and thorough interviews with the aforementioned teachers. 93 copies of questionnaire about the playgrounds were delivered, for which 93 effective copies were returned, and 432 copies of questionnaire to the teachers of physical education were delivered, for which 375 effective copies were returned accounting for 86.8% of the total. Through a statistical analysis made on the returned data, the conclusions are as following: 1. The existing state of the reconstructed playgrounds of elementary schools in Nantou County (1) Area and Ratio of the Playgrounds a. The average areas of each student using the playgrounds are reduced. b. The service area of playground for each student varies with the scale of schools, and the sequence of the scale is: small one, middle one, and large one. The ratio of the area of playground to the area of campus varies with the scale of schools, and the sequence of the scale is: middle one, small one, and large one. (2) Condition of the race track on the ground-track & field: a. After the campus reconstruction many a school without loop racetrack is added. b. More schools select superior-quality materials for the pavement of race tracks. (3) With regards to the types and the units of reconstructed playgrounds, types increases and units are lessened. (4) More schools select superior-quality materials for their playgrounds. 2. Requirement of reconstructed school playgrounds With regard to the construction and improvement of playgrounds in the elementary schools in Nantou, the most urgent need for many schools is to construct outdoor loop racetracks and indoor gymnasiums. And among playgrounds are basketball playgrounds whose improvement is most urgently needed. 3. Analysis on the satisfaction of the teachers of physical education with their reconstructed playground (1) With regard to the overall reconstruction of playground equipment, these teachers tend to express dissatisfaction. (2) The results of the analyses on satisfaction with the aforementioned 4 types have a tendency towards dissatisfaction. (3) Analysis on the satisfaction of schools with different types of race tracks a. Those schools with loop racetracks tend to express satisfaction as a whole. b. Those schools without loop racetracks tend to express dissatisfaction as a whole.
