Summary: | 碩士 === 國立體育學院 === 教練研究所 === 92 === Approach and take off are the most important techniques in pole vaulting and also the major factors which affect the score. Therefore, this study was to analyze the approach and take off techniques of top International and domestic athletes to find out the differences for coaches and athletes. The research subjects with 4 top athletes of 2002 National Track and Field competition during the contest. The approach and take off were recorded by two JVC high speed video cameras, then analyzed by APAS three-dimensional movement software and then the data were transmitted to two-dimension kinematic data.
1. The approach speed of top domestic athletes were significantly smaller compared to that of top international athletes. If the speed and rhythm can be improved, the performance will surely be enhanced.
2. The take off point of domestic top athletes was over the vertical line of the up hand grasping point and the ground. It made the pole touch the planting box too early and lost the horizontal speed.
3. For athlete A, his take off speed was faster than the others, therefore his performance was the best. If he can keep the stability of the approach and take off, he can make better performance.
4. For athlete B, the speed loss of final step of approach and that of take off was the largest. If he can improve the approach rhythm and technique, select appropriate approach distance, the performance will be better.
5. For athlete C, his final step was five centimeters longer than that of the last step and the take off point was too over the vertical line of the up hand grasping point and the ground. That was why he didn’t perform very well.
6. For athlete D, he should improve his approach speed to enhance his performance.
