Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 比較教育學系 === 92 === This study mainly intends to explore the development of the private higher education after the Reform Period (1978) in Mainland China. In addition to the method of documentary analysis, the method of interview survey, carried out during the period between 10th March and 24th March, 2004, is also adopted in this study. The samples of interview chosen in this study are teaching staff and higher ranking administrators in four private universities and Institute in Beijing city, e.g., Beijing Professional Business Institute, Beijing City University, Beijing Geely University, and Beijing Huijia University. This study has four major conclusions. First, the development of private higher education in Mainland China is in response to the needs of its society and the change of market mechanism. Second, the promulgations of“Act of the promotion of Private Education” and its code of practice in 2003 and 2004, respectively, have established the formal legal base for the development of its private higher education. Third, the interviewed private universities and colleges in Beijing have adopted similar patterns of management, and have common characteristics in their operation. Fourth, There still exist some problems to be solved in private higher education in Mainland China. Based upon the analysis of private higher education in Mainland China and the above-noted conclusions, suggestions about the future reform of private higher education in Taiwan and future researches needed in the related field are thereby proposed in this thesis.
