Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 國際企業學系 === 92 === This study examines MNEs’ plant-location strategies by two main dimensions, internal advantages and external social relations, and also considers the moderating roles of uncertainty in the relationship between social relations and plant-location strategies. Therefore, trying to provide a synthesis framework for the issue is the ultimate goal of my research. I choose Taiwanese banking system in 1990~2000 as sampling source. In the research framework, “capability transferring” and “cultural distance” serve as the proxy of internal advantages. Besides, “mimetic isomorphism” and “relational embeddedness” play the role of external social relations. Moreover, “policy uncertainty”, “firm-specific uncertainty”, and “industry-specific uncertainty” moderate the relationship between social relations and plant-location strategies in our researching hypotheses. Then, we use binary Logit regression model to test all of the hypotheses listed. According to empirical results, banks’ internal abilities primarily determine the possibility of plant-locations while external social relations take charge of the secondary determinant. Otherwise, The higher degree of policy, firm-specific, and industry-specific uncertainty the more mimetic behaviors toward domestic competitors. Moreover, the higher degrees of industry-specific uncertainty the more relational embeddedness toward foreign competitors.
