They question the notion of mono-history and ideology of the Martial Law’s period. Thoroughly concentrating on the gender issue, they further deconstruct the political myth of history and of celebrities to interfere in the national discourse and the historical memory. Mostly in the past, females are “represented” through men’s authority in historical and autobiographical writing, which is a hegemonic center in combination of nationalism and patriarchy. Ping Lu and Li Ang raise their interests in the gender issue of historical condition in Taiwan. Presenting the uniqueness of the physiological and psychological feminine experience, they rewrite two “female political celebrities”─Song Qingling and Snow Red. To criticize on the social system, which is intertwined with patriarchy and power politics, and to reconstruct through female subject, they reinterpret the history of the feminine life experience, the body desire of these ordinary females, perform a feminine-centered writing, and etc. This paper concentrates on several phases, including “gender politics,” “representation,” “collective memory,” and “erotic writing” to observe the intricate relationship between body, gender, politics and history. Theoretically, the paper also reviews related feminist theories, and focuses on the analysis of patriarchy, history, power structure and ideology, especially that of gender issue.
