To begin with, a simulation is developed to investigate the change of signal characteristics such as strength, visibility, and Doppler with respect to GPS satellites for a low-earth orbiting (LEO) satellite. Some consequences of the high dynamical environment are observed and appropriate countermeasures are presented.
Furthermore, a GPS receiver system is setup to experimentally receive GPS signal that is subject to high dynamic stress. The GPS receiver system relies on the development of open source software. Finally, the performance of the spaceborne GPS receiver under a simulated high dynamical environment is demonstrated.
