The purpose of this thesis is to study the properties of mortar which was used on the traditional Lao-Gu stone masonry in Peng-Hu in the view of material. The nowadays application of the materials, mortar, of the re-used Lao-Gu stone masonry is also taken into deliberation. The research is proceeding by means of consulting the scientific literature, doing the fieldwork and interviewing the skilled craftsmen in order to be aware of the raw materials and the destroyed factor of mortar used before. Besides, we expect to obtain the physics and chemical characters of the modeled mortar sample with the result that we are able to carry the conclusion of research out. First of all, the structure of traditional Lao-Gu stone masonry and the nature ofconventional masonry mortar are acquainted by making a study of the scientific literature. The investigation of present situation and the craftsmen’s interview help us to be informed of the mixed materials of mortar. Furthermore, the mortar samples which are collected from Lao-Gu stone masonry of old and the re-used Lao-Gu stones are used to analyze the elements. Lao-Gu stones and the mortar which are imitated referring to the craftsmen’s statements are applied to several relevant experiments, including the water absorptivity, compressive resistance, pulling experiments, and then collect as well as analyze those experimental data. Eventually, based on the tests of above, the best mixed proportion and the equitable application shall be proposed about the traditional Lao-Gu stone masonry mortar and the mortar of re-used Lao-Gu tones. In accordance with the research, the material, mortar, which was used to be laid on,is extremely local. The gravel sand of the off-shore island has influences on the intensity of mortar as well as the estimation on the composition analysis of x-ray diffract meter’s chart. According to experiment, the researcher finds out that the samples of traditional mortar material model are more easily dissolved by water, and its compressive strength is lower than Lao-Gu stone itself. However, the samples that modeled upon the reconstruction of Erh-Kan town in Ma-Gong city are with more compressive strength than Lao-Gu stones because of the mixture of cement mortar and calcimine. The materials of traditional Lao-Gu masonry, mortar, and Lao-Gu stones that come from earth and return to earth are environmental building materials typically. The seam of aged Lao-Gu masonry should be filled up with the mortar that is mixed with calcimine, which can decrease the water absorptivity. It will avoid soaking of rain that causes the soil to be washed away and brings the comfortless feeling indoors. Although there are no differences from the old to the new over the mortar of re-used Lao-Gu stones, the strength of mortar should be lower than the fundamental material, Lao-Gu stone, and should reduce the amount of cement. That will make the Lao-Gu stones building materials recycled and reused more easily in order that the traditional Lao-Gu stones building materials could perform their special architecture on unsophisticated Peng-Hu everlastingly. 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系專班 === 92 === In consideration of the fundamental research of the Lao-Gu stone masonry is insufficient, so that the difficulties of those maintenance and reparation increase.
The gravel sand of the off-shore island has influences on the intensity
of mortar as well as the estimation on the composition analysis of x-ray diffract meter’s chart. According to experiment, the researcher finds out that the samples of traditional mortar material model are more easily dissolved by water, and its compressive strength is lower than Lao-Gu stone itself. However, the samples that modeled upon the
reconstruction of Erh-Kan town in Ma-Gong city are with more compressive strength than Lao-Gu stones because of the mixture of cement mortar and calcimine.
