Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系碩博士班 === 92 === Ever year, the fires affect many aspects in Taiwan, for instance the safety, finance and so on. It is no doubt that the fire is the extra calamity of buildings, which occurred frequently. The disastrous fire, ruined East Science Buildings, revealed the lack of hazard mitigation system in high-rise buildings. The curtain walls are usually used for separating in-door and out-door in high-rise buildings, and play an important role to distinct the different environments of interior and outer. Besides, the curtain wall is also an important element of fire protection. According to the building code in Taiwan, non load-bearing walls should have half an hour fire rating. They even should provide with at least an hour fire rating in rigorous situation. However, it is difficult for glass and metal curtain walls to supply appropriate fire rating for buildings. Due to this defect, the glass and metal curtain walls became one of the weak points of fire protection and make the fire spread easily. The aim of this research is to probe and improve the fire performance of stick system curtain walls by literatures review and experimental approach. Firstly, this research collected the preliminary information on fire calamity and curtain wall. Then, then experiment on a modified full-scale curtain wall specimen was carried out based upon deliberating literatures and the opinions of experts. Finally, improved suggestions were proposed by observing the efficiency and the destructive phenomenon of specimen. The results of experiment are listed below: 1.Experiment of fire simulation proved that the progress of fire protection performance of curtain wall could be attributed to the re-design. 2.Some destruction occurred on curtain wall, especially near the opening areas. Although window frame was melted during the third experiment, the global fire stability was satisfied.
