Highly mix-use and residential density are the characteristic in Taiwan’s cities , roads system take up a lot of spaces, and reduce the rooms for other public facilities. Chi-Zu community and Ton-Ming community are the instants of this study. Improving the livability of residential streets system, we establish a set of planning procedure through environmental survey and residents interview for discovering problems, then help planning strategies and design devices which is based on traffic calming concepts and planning strategies. Meanwhile, for the point of man-vehicle harmony, the study proposes different traffic calming measures for various communities of Tainan City. Furthermore, the study forms a complete set about Tainan City’s urban policies in land-used, parking management and mass transportation policy. To frame the traffic calming plans for improving the livability of street environmentin Tainan City’s residential communities.
