The river often become compound section which has obvious main channel. Because of the different land forms and plant condition between main channel and flood plain, the hydraulic characteristics are not the same between main channel and flood plain when the flood submerges flood plain during the flood period.   This paper studied the flood simulation of the compound channel by using combined flood model and ARMB-2D model that provide hydraulic data for flood control works in compound channel at low stage. The research applied FRFLI model, combined flood model and ARMB-2D model to simulate the flood process in NARI typhoon at the downstream of the Tseng-Wen river. The result of the simulation has shown the difference of the hydrographic appearance’s details. They all get the section of the average hydrographic character and have the function to simulate the flood along the river. The combined flood model can calculate the flood capacity between main channel and flood plain and the local inundation. The ARMB-2D model can calculate the velocity of the compound channel , but it cost a lot of time. Therefore, if the simulation only need to know the flood routing, the output of the local discharge and inundation, the FRFLI model and the combined flood model will be the practical model.
