The Research of International Terrorism-Al Qaeda Organization
With the increasingly active, creative and ferocious strategies, the terrorism has become the most threatening enemy to the peace of the contemporary world. Among all the terrorist groups, Al Qaeda is the most notorious one since it successfully united the transnational terrorist organizations to launch either sporadic or large-scale attacks, yet equally ruthless and unpredictable, which brings almost every country of the world under the shadow of terrorism in different ways.
As we all know, the World Trade Center catastrophe on 11 September, 2001 has subverted the existed order of the world overnight and astonished those who have regarded the United States as undauntable. People hardly believed that the security system and national defense of the Super Giant was so fragile and could be broken down by Al Qaeda with little effort. Al Qaeda, all of a sudden, made the world aware of its existence and nowadays, the anti-terrorism action has apparently become the most significant political issue widely discussed by countries all over the world.
The members of the Al Qaeda network around the globe cunningly plotted terrorist attacks of various modes. Meanwhile, they are also adept at rousing sympathy and recognition from the Third World and Islamic World by using provoking rhetoric and manipulating people’s belief in nationalism and Islamic doctrines. Their main requests, such as anti-colonialism and anti-America, have won supports of people sharing the similar or the same ideologies and even then brought more and more radicals to get involved in the terrorist activities in different areas of the world. Al-Qaeda, along with other terrorist groups, has all together established a transnational hegemony that is in possession of military forces which has the potential to bring the world a destructive disaster.
Since the Al-Qaeda network is so intensively organized and mysteriously disguised, our knowledge of Al-Qaeda seems hardly get beyond the newsreels or movie segments. As a result, this dissertation intends to focus on Al-Qaeda and probe the terrorism issue from multiple perspectives and, hopefully, will be able provides some practical and feasible directions for the government’s anti-terrorism efforts.
