The First chapter introduces components of music—the appearance and the theory. The Second chapter discusses musical aesthetic theory, its function and importance to human beings, and also the difference between eastern and western musical aesthetic values. The Third chapter investigates into the historical importance, connotation, and characteristics of “Yue-Ji”. The Fourth chapter starts from the musical psychology, investigates into the effect of “Yue-Ji” on modern music composer, player and audience. The Fifth chapter focuses on the functions of music in the “Yue- Ji”. The Sixth chapter analyzes the discussion of musical phenomenon within the “Yue-Ji”, and present viewpoints helpful for interpreting modern musical aesthetics. The Seventh chapter searches into the musical values within the “Yue-Ji” and discusses the relationship between virtue and art from viewpoint of aesthetic value, the relationship between art and desire from viewpoint of social value, and the relationship between etiquette and music from viewpoint of philosophy of living. The Eighth chapter concludes the beauty of Chinese music in the “Yue-Ji” and perspective of this study. A music style always created in its own time and area.Its art value is not certainly constant and permanent. However, the real value of the music art is not to convey a permanent truth, but to inspire our thought.
