Mobile technologies offer new opportunities for learning activities to take place in different locations and times. This new concept as “Mobile learning” is therefore the current trend for education. This research attempted to integrate the mobile technology into the traditional teaching and learning environment by utilizing PDA in an elementary science course. An experiment was conducted using SMILE (Science Mobile Interactive Learning Environment), a PDA learning system. The learning materials of the system focus on the breeding of animals and plants. The objects of the experiment were 24 fifth-grade students in the Taoyuan province. The research used in-depth interviews, participative observation, and questionnaire to exam both students’ and teacher’s learning process, and their reactions and suggestions along with the application of PDA in learning.
