碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 資訊管理學系碩士班 === 92 === Richard Stallman announced “The GNU Manifesto” in 1984 and stated the necessity of open source, which resulted in the prosperity of open source. Nowadays, we can find a lot of various projects of open source software in some famous open source coordinating websites, such as Sourceforge.net, Freshmeat.net., …etc. However, it is obvious that most of the software needs a complex setup process, including download, compilation, installation, and tuning. Therefore, only the technical users can participate in the community and enjoy the open source software. On the other hand, most non-technical users will complain of the difficulties for accessing the open source software. In addition, the only way for users to understand the functionalities and qualities of open source software is their text descriptions and pictures on the web sites. Users may realize that the open source software does not meet their requirements after much time consuming of installation. In this thesis, an open source development platform for web service projects is presented. There are three major advantages because of the adoption of web service technologies. First, the proposed platform will reduce the complexity for non-technical users. Second, users can try the functions of open source software on the platform. Finally, open source software is considered as services of components, which makes the integration more easy and efficient.
