In general, the problem is resolved by handwork in order to keep characteristic of the geometry presently. In this research, an automatic method is developed to recognize the discontinuous points of geometry and to construct the two-dimensional geometry.
Most of commercial software is difficult to directly edit the knots and the control points simultaneous. However, it is necessary to modify the knots and the control points simultaneously in the construction of the first order discontinuous geometry. Therefore, this paper needs to edit IGES file and leads to the function of the research. The steps of the automatic process includes: First, the sampled data is extracted. As well, the data point is constructed as a curve. Then, the data points is send to a program to get the information of knots and control points. The next step is to recognize a cute point. And then, the knots and the control points is placed at discontinuous position. Finally, an IGES file is produced. This paper uses seven examples to demonstrate the proposed method. The result shows that the method is applicable and reliable.
