The paramagnetic property of SPIO was estimated by SQUID. Dansyl-SPIO and dansyl-CLIO were synthesized by using EDBE to link dansyl chloride and SPIO. Flow-cytometric analysis indicates that the dansyl-SPIO and dansyl-SPIO are specific to the dansyl receptors. The dansyl-CLIO possesses higher ability of labeling to dansyl receptors than that of dansyl-SPIO. Furthermore, the dansyl receptors on B16F1-DNS could be detected by dansyl-CLIO contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In addition, Herceptin–SPIO was synthesized and used to detect the cells with Her2 gene overexpression.
