This study is intended to explore the interrelationship among the transformational leadership, the organization culture, and the employees'' job satisfaction level in the Kaohsiung municipal hospitals.
The issues are mainly explored from (1) analyzing the present situations in the municipal hospitals regarding respects of transformational leadership, organization culture, and employee''s job satisfaction; (2) investigating the difference of transformational leadership and organization culture on employees with different characteristics or from different sections; and (3) probing into the interrelationships among transformational leadership, organization culture, and employees'' job satisfaction, as well as the factors accounting for the interrelationships.
The subjects of this study consist of employee''s from A and B municipal hospitals, including doctors, nursing staff, medical technicians, and administrative staff. A questionnaire of general survey is distributed to the 550 subjects, and 65.3% of the respondents are collected as valid data. The data analysis is processed by the SPSS for Windows, statistically analyzed by means of frequencies, reliability, validity, mean, standard deviation, T Test, One-way ANOVA, LSD, Pearson’s correlation, and stepwise multiple regression.
The major findings of this study are described as follows:
1. Both hospitals present above-average scores in the recognition of the transformational leadership. In particular, the leadership''s open-minded style, willingness to take constructive suggestions, and readiness to pay compliments and rewards can best assure. And the scores of the compliments and rewards are highest.
2. As for moderate identification of organization culture, with the highest score in sensing the hospitals'' high premium on the employee''s job contributions.
3. The level of total employee''s job satisfaction is above-average, with internal contentment better than external contentment. The greatest satisfaction comes from colleague relationship. Being free to employ self-judgment at work also bring contentment, which demonstrates the leadership''s liberal and democratic styles.
4. For employee''s of different sexes, ages, positions, and posts, remarkable difference is shown in transformational leadership, organization culture, and job satisfaction. Male employees’ scores are higher than those of female employees. The cases of over 51 years old get highest scores and the scores of leader are higher than normal staff. And the scores of administrators are highest while technologists’ are lowest.
5. Transformational leadership, organization culture, and job satisfaction are in direct interrelation and therefore inter-predictable, the transformational leadership especially best predicting the leadership''s contentment toward the working environment.
From the findings of this study, propose solid suggestions for the sanitary authorities, the hospital leadership, and the future researchers to conduct further studies are ultimately suggested.
