For achieving the efficient cell planning,it is necessary to understanding the propagation characteristics of microcell systems. We carry out a series of propagation measurements at the road area located at urban Kaohsiung city and on the two base stations in 1.8GHz bands. Three categories for propagation paths are therefore defined as LOS light clutter obstructed path, LOS heavy clutter obstructed path, and LOS dominated path in according to geography locations. According to the measuring data for statistics estimate analysis on microcell planning it be used road width, apartment level, apartment form, apartment abundance and distance parameters of propagation environment for coverage and system performance impacts. Thus, the GSM system would acquire parameters of propagation environment and achieve the optimization of cell planning.
