This study explored the effect of gender on information technology and information content. The interview sample consisted of unmarried family members in Kaohsiung.
This study was based on hermeneutic phenomenology methodology in qualitative research, and applied general interview guide to interview. A convenience sample included 39 unmarried family members in Kaohsiung at the ages between 20 and 31. Each participant was interviewed one or two times, and the interval of each interview was during 30 and 120 minutes. The results of this study were as followings:
(a) The faction which gender effected the motive of using computer is diverse, but not unobvious.
(b) The space disposition of house and information technology degree of family members were relevant influential.
(c) Female lacked confidence in decision of buying computer.
(d) Male had more opportunity of computer courses because of Gender Distinction.
(e) Female spent less time on computer each day.
(f) Gender effected the type of websites browsing by family members.
(g) Gender effected the way of applying computer.
