碩士 === 華梵大學 === 工業設計系碩士班 === 92 === Abstract During the process of product development, once the process begins, many design proposals are often evaluated. This process of evaluation frequently involves strategic analysis and correction to the quality of which the success of developing a product is intimately related to. This research explores the evaluation process of design proposals through interviewing and surveying managers of the product design departments of Information Technology Industry in Taiwan, intending to understand the design factors emphasized during the evaluation process. The survey design includes the criteria implemented in international design contests. The managers were asked to fill in the surveys according to practical cases in design evaluation. The response of the design factors obtained from the surveys and interviews was contrasted against the evaluation method from scholastic sources and experts in the field of industrial design. The research then went on to analyze why the particular factors were emphasized. Finally, the following conclusions had been arrived. It is hoped that these conclusions would serve as references for design evaluation task in related product design and development. (1)The mechanism of the evaluation of product development procedure should be put to action precisely. The function of such evaluation mechanism should not be neglected because of the tight schedule of new product design. (2)There should be norms for the execution of the evaluation of design alternatives so that the subjective way of assessment will be avoided. (3)It is necessary that enterprises in Taiwan should try to enhance their design. In addition to product design, the consumer’s feeling, and the friendliness of material to the environment should be taken into consideration so at to meet the internationalization trend in the near future.
