Large area local area network(LAN) installation concerns the whole set-up cost and transportation efficiency. Hub-based network layout owns the advantage of cable-saving and signal compensation. Former researches on p-hubs problem concentrate on transportation flow instead of initial set-up cost. Cable-Trench Problem (CTP) adopts start network topology and initial set-up cost. Therefore, this paper combines the concept of p-hubs and CTP problems and develops a heuristic Cable-Hub Problem(CHP) algorithm. As the unit price ratio of hub to cable changes, the corresponding network topology and total initial set-up cost are attained.
