Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 應用統計學研究所 === 92 === This research adopts the data on 1657 elderly from 2001 Taiwan Social Change Survey conducted by the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica. The main aim of this research is to understand Taiwanese family values and the causes and factors that have impact on it. Statistical method such as Descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, Correlation Analysis, Automatic Interaction Detector, Classification and Regression Trees, Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Ridit Analysis and Canonical Correlation Analysis. <p> The research findings are as follow: 1. Age, educational level, marital status and family structure are the main factors that influence the residential arrangement when people are aged. 2. Age, marital status and father’s educational level are the main factors that influence on the livelihood. 3. Age, educational level and marital status are the main factors influenced the arrangement of living cost in old age. 4. Educational level influences on the caring style. 5. The younger family members, the opener they are in the family concept. On the contrary, the older are more traditional. 6. Males are more traditional in the family and marriage concepts than females; females are more loyalty in marriage. 7. Those who believe in “man are good at affairs outside the household; females are good at domestic affairs” are more traditional in family concepts. 8. Those who have traditional concepts about family and marriage are also using traditional ways of care-taking and more obedience to their parents. 9. Those who take care of their parents financially, but expect to live independently and have financially independent ability when they are old.
