This dissertation is aimed to the design, analysis and manufacturing of circuit analog (CA) absorbers with broadband, light-weighted and excellent strength properties. CA RAMs are fabricated by replacing the resistive sheet of a Salisbury screen by a frequency selective surface (FSS). The FSS can be represented by its effective resistance (R), inductance (L) and capacitance (C) that are related to the thickness of the deposit and the geometric patterns of the lossy materials. Using an equivalent circuit method and transmission line theory the power of EM waves reflected and transmitted from the FSS is solved and obtained. The reflection of normally incident or oblique incident plane waves from CA structures using either square loop or Jerusalem cross patterns is analyzed using equivalent circuit techniques and Ansoft Designer electromagnetic analysis software. The bandwidth of the absorber is increased for employing CA sheets rather than simple resistive sheets through increased control of the impedance properties of the lossy material.
