However, the research of retrofit wooden structure using CFRP is not much. The study in durability aspect is less and moreover, has not proceeded appropriately. This research is to discuss the durability of retrofit wooden members using CFRP. In order to assure the durability, wooden member specimens(cryptomeria japonica)wrapped CFRP sheets which were subjected to two different environments including sea water dry-wet cycling and freeze-thaw cycling were tested on surface hardness, SEM observation, pull-out strength, compressive shear strength, compressive strength and flexural strength tests. After the above environment conditions and tests, the evaluation of the effect and the durability of wooden members wrapped with CFRP sheets can be made. Finally, bending and full-size compressive specimens were painted two layers resin but don’t run the environment test. Throughout the test, it can compare if the wooden members painted two layers resin before wrapping with CFRP will increase the effect of retrofit. Results show that wooden members wrapped with CFRP can increase strength, especially when painting two layers resin. After environment test, it shows good bonding between wooden members and CFRP. And strength of compressive shear, compressive or flexural specimens does not decrease by retrofitting layers but decrease strength of pull-out or compressive shear ones.
