After evaluation of bonding strength with microtensile test, the fracture surface also evaluated with SEM to analysis the mechanism to affect the bonding strength. Human molars without any decay and filling were collected and prepared to get clean and smooth surfaces then the surfaces were treated with phosphoric acid, SE Bond and Nd: YAP laser. After data analysis with one way ANOVA, the bonding strength of phosphoric acid group is the greatest but with no significant difference when compared with SE Bond group. Dentin surfaces treated with Nd: YAP laser fail to produce any data of detectable bonding strength. The conclusions of the present study were as follows: 1) different dentin condition methods can affect the dentin surface conditions like the numbers and diameter of dentin tubules. This phenomenon may change the result of bonding strength. 2) the bonding strengths of phosphoric acid group and SE Bonding group were no statistical difference means that the bonding mechanism of self etching system was not only mechanical but chemical strength. 3) Nd: YAP laser can seal the dentin tubules and produce crack and uneven rough surface. This phenomenon may explain the reason of bonding failure in the laser treating group. Dr.Shinn-Jyh Ding 丁信智 2004 學位論文 ; thesis 65 zh-TW
