This study used longitudinal and quasi-experimental design. Sixty-two breast cancer women were recruited with purposive sampling. Subjects were assigned to a control group or an experimental group. Subjects in the control group received routine care. Subjects in the experimental group received chemotherapy self-care education program before and after chemotherapy. Instruments included the symptom distress scale, self-care measures scale, the exercise of self-care agency, and FACT-B-QOL. Descriptive statistics, x2 tests, Fisher's Exact Test, t-test, Mann-Whitney test, Generalized Estimating Equations were used for data analysis. The results indicated that (1) nearly half patients had medium symptom distress. Fatigue and nausea were most frequent. The most severe symptoms were fatigue, poor appetite, hair loses, sleep difficulty, and nausea. Patients in the experimental group had decreased fatigue than patients in the control group. (2) Patients in the experimental group had effective self-care measures than patients in the control group. (3) There were no differences in self-care agency and quality of life between the experimental group and the control group. Findings of this study could provide nurses as guidance in taking care of post-operation breast cancer women receiving chemotherapy. 江慧玲 2004 學位論文 ; thesis 139 zh-TW
